Upcoming Windows Support Expiry In October

Posted in: Microsoft 03/09/26

Popular Microsoft Products Reach End Of Support In October 2026.

That does not mean the software suddenly stops working but it does mean your business could be left exposed to newly discovered vulnerabilities, compliance concerns and avoidable downtime.

Once support ends, Microsoft will no longer provide regular security updates, bug fixes or technical support for those products.

Why this matters:

  • Unsupported Windows and Office products may no longer receive security patches.
  • Cyber insurance, Cyber Essentials and other compliance requirements may be affected.
  • Older devices may become harder and more expensive to maintain.
  • Leaving upgrades until the deadline can create disruption, rushed decisions and unnecessary cost.

Key benefits of upgrading:

  • Stronger protection against modern cyber threats with ongoing security updates.
  • Improved performance, reliability and compatibility with current business applications.
  • Better support for Microsoft 365, cloud services and modern device management.
  • Reduced risk of downtime, emergency replacements and unplanned IT costs.
  • A smoother user experience for staff, with newer features and better long-term support.

Some devices may not need replacing. Subject to meeting Microsoft’s hardware and servicing requirements, some devices currently running Windows 11 version 24H2 may be able to upgrade to Windows 11 version 25H2 rather than being replaced immediately.

This is why an early review is so valuable: we can check which PCs can be upgraded, which may need attention first, and which are better candidates for replacement before the October 2026 deadline.

Now is the right time to review your PCs, Windows versions, Office licensing and upgrade options. A planned refresh gives you time to budget properly, avoid rushed purchasing decisions, improve security, and move users to supported technology with minimal disruption.

IT Ambulance can help you identify which devices and Microsoft products are affected, build a practical upgrade plan, and keep disruption to a minimum. And if anything does go wrong, our Same Hour Onsite Support Guarantee means help is never far away.
