Microsoft Windows 10- Countdown to End of Life

Microsoft ‘s ubiquitous client operating system, Windows 10, will reach its end of support on October 14, 2025. The current version, 22H2, will be the final version of Windows 10, and all editions will remain in support with monthly security update releases through that date.

After this the operating system will be unsupported, meaning that it will not get enhancements or more importantly security updates. Inevitably this means within a few weeks some enterprising crook will find a gap to exploit and the whole thing will become a nightmare. As we have seen historically as we approach an end of life third party vendors will lose interest in writing products that properly integrate. Furthermore, systems that are not supported and patched do not follow “industry best practice for data security”, falling  foul of the wording in the Privacy Act 2018 and holding your enterprise open to action by the ICO for any data breach.

So as we rapidly approach October 14th 2024, you have one year to prepare to replace or remove Windows 10 systems from your network.
